HELPING THE LESS FORTUNATE

I think that the U.S. donated a lot of money and help, but I think that it wasn't enough. In this essay, I will explain my reasons on why I think we did not give enough aid, to those affected by the tsunami.

When I first heard about the tsunami I, like many others were shocked! Thousands died, and more were dying every day, leaving hundreds of people searching and hoping their family was still alive.

I knew from the very start that we would most likely give all the help we could to help aid the clean-up and after math of this disaster. However, when I found out that other people gave more money than us, I was actually shocked! We, the world power donated about $350 million dollars! Now that is a lot more money than most of us will see in our entire life, but some how it wasn't enough. Even with the war on, I think that more people could have donated money, like those with billions or even millions of dollars. I think if everyone in the U.S. donated .25 or even .50 cents we would have contributed more money than we did. I thought it was nice when the celebrities donated $1 million dollars or even more than that, but when they have millions and millions of dollars, why not give more?

People were dying and we stood around and just watched it on t.v. in shock. If more or us cared and actually did something about it, the clean up of this horrific disaster would have happened a lot faster. I know people couldn't just drop their lives to run over there and help, but being less selfish and doing all they could (like donating clothes, money, food.. etc) would have made the process way easier. For these reasons is why I think that the U.S. did not do enough to aid in this natural disaster.
